A week in the South of Brazil |

This week, after a connexion in Rio on the way back from the North of Brazil , we went to the South : state of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande Do Sul. After the hydro power plants, let’s make a tour of thermal ones ! |

Copacabana beach in the early hours. Unfortunately, GDF SUEZ has not yet a power plant on this place so we just took a picture before joining offices in the center of Rio.…

During the early morning and the late afternoon, a car of each Rio’s metro admit only women. For obvious reasons, the team had to split during this run…
Wednesday December 1
At Jorge Lacerda Complex, city of Tubarão, state of Santa Catarina. The power plant is the largest coal-fired plant in Latin America. 857 MW of installed capacity, 7 generation units: being there was just amazing (and also pleasant regarding to the warm welcoming we had).
Thursday December 2
Tracebel Energia is strongly involved in several associations for children in Tubarão. Don’t think Laure has become fluent in portuguese : at the moment the picture was taken, she was just smiling because she was understanding nothing about what the little girl was saying…
Friday December 3
At Lages, behind the term “biomass power plant”, there are a lot of wood … allowing an installed capacity of 28 MW. By using wastes of the regional wood industry, the plant can benefit from credit carbon. It was the first one of this kind in Brazil to do that!
Saturday December 4 and Sunday December 5

De retour à Bruxelles, il est temps de vous féliciter pour vos reportages de cette première période; celui des noix de cocos, prodigieusement pédagogique, restera dans les mémoires, et les autres tout aussi enrichissants. Bravo, continuez!
