Yes, we’re back! For this first week of 2011, we are learning about the city of Casablanca, Morocco, and in particular LYDEC, a GDF SUEZ subsidiary. |
|
Monday: arrival in Casablanca after a few events. We are now in the queue to get back a piece of our luggage that was lost in Paris.
Wednesday: Jawad gives us a tour of the old Casablanca medina. Moroccan slippers, teasets , pastries, this place has everything.
Thursday: for our first day at LYDEC, Ghizlane and Abderrahmane have us visit their fantastic training center. An article on this is coming up very soon.
Friday: LYDEC is in charge of distributing potable water in Casablanca. Today we are visiting the Mediouna reservoir (115,000 cubic meters), one of the largest in Africa. The word LYDEC can be read in Arabic.
Saturday: a visit to Fez. While Casablanca is the economic capital of Morocco, Fez is the country’s artistic and cultural center. The famous tanneries produce Moroccan slippers, bags and poufs from the skins of goats, sheep and dromedaries.
Sunday: a picture for posterity in front of the King Mohammed VI palace in Fez.
